Collect Cars and Race Getting Started
Day-one order for Collect Cars and Race: the right place, every code, first gas, first pet, first launch.
This is the day-one walkthrough for Collect Cars and Race, the wiki name for the Roblox experience Car Race by push to start. The place went live on 20 November 2022, is free, and is Roblox-only. You load into a 16-player online server. You are not playing a local co-op campaign and you are not stuck in a single-player-only mode. Other racers share the lobby; your score is still your own.
The first hour is easy to waste. Players spawn, mash the ramp, skip the Shop code box, and then wonder why the rainbow track dies after a few studs. The correct order is join, redeem, collect, equip, buy only what you need, then launch once with a full tank.
Join the right experience
Search Roblox for Car Race by push to start, or open the official place from the link above. The lobby is a bright collection area with gas cans on the ground, marked treasure crosses, a Shop button on the left of the HUD, cars parked for purchase, and a ramp that dumps you onto an infinite rainbow stud track.
This is not Car Race Simulator, not Car Dealership Tycoon, and not Driving Empire. If the UI is a dealership lot or a city-driving map, you opened the wrong game. Back out and use the place ID 11620633955.
If the HUD feels alien, skim Controls in a second tab. There is no official published keybind document. Videos show PC WASD plus standard Roblox interact, mobile tap plus an on-screen stick, and a left-side Shop button on every device.
Redeem codes before you walk
Open Shop on the left. Scroll to the bottom of that panel. You should see a code field. Paste every active string from the codes hub and redeem one at a time. Codes are case-sensitive. The live list we track is Update5, FreePet, GasBoost, Update4, Update3, Update2, Update1, FreeGas, and Release.
Those strings are the cheapest power spike in the game. Gas codes dump hundreds or thousands of gas so your first launch is not a dry starter tank. FreePet grants the Monster Pet. Release grants the Universal Varan pet. Both should be equipped before you touch the ramp. Do this first, even before you chase a single can, so you are not collecting on an empty multiplier.
If the box rejects a code, you already claimed it or it expired. Do not sit in the field retrying typos. Copy from the codes page and move on.
Collect the first tank of gas
Gas is the lobby currency that becomes speed on the ramp. Walk or drive the floor and pick up every can you see. When you spot a treasure cross (community videos show a marked X on the ground), stand on it and dig. On PC that interact is the usual Roblox E in footage; on mobile it is a tap on the prompt. Digging pays a lump of gas that beats a single can.
Do not launch because the ramp looks fun. A half-collected lobby is a short rainbow. The dedicated gas guide covers routes, why skipped cans wreck distance, Auto Collect (399 Robux), and which codes refill the tank between sessions. For day one, one full loop of cans plus every visible cross is enough.
Hatch or equip a pet, then look at cars
Pets multiply distance. After codes, open the pet inventory and equip the strongest thing you own. If Monster Pet and Universal Varan both dropped, equip them if your slots allow. Hatch a cheap egg only after those are on. How to Get Pets explains eggs, luck passes, storage, and why a parked legendary in the backpack does nothing for the launch.
Cars are the body you ride off the ramp. Day one, buy the next affordable shop vehicle with gas. Do not empty the tank on a cosmetic color or a Robux supercar before you have a pet equipped. The shop climbs from starter vehicles through sports cars, buses, jeeps, boats, a pirate ship, and a submarine. Color swatches sit in the same panel. How to Get Cars is the spend guide; this page only needs you in something better than the default before the first commit.
First launch, then stop and read the score
Enter the car you just bought or the starter if you are still broke. Drive it onto the ramp. Commit. You leave the lobby and fly the infinite rainbow stud track. Distance is the score. Studs come back from how far you travel. When you stop, you return to the lobby with a number and a chance to beat it.
A good first launch is a clean tank, equipped code pets, and a car you paid for with leftover gas — not a heroic empty-tank dive. If the run dies instantly, you skipped cans or launched with no pet. Collect again. Do not rebirth on day one. Rebirth spends progress to unlock extra maps, including Candy / Candyland, and it is a later-loop decision described in How to Play.
What to buy on day one
Spend free rewards first. Codes are free. Group and achievement gas, if the lobby still offers them, are free. Shop cars that cost gas are the next honest upgrade. Robux is optional.
If you will spend Robux at all on session one, the pass that changes the lobby most is Auto Collect at 399 Robux, because missed cans are the main beginner leak. Everything else on the gamepasses list is a multiplier or convenience: 2x Studs at 289, +2 Pets at 239, +3 Pets at 359, +250 Pet Storage at 124, Super Lucky at 249, Ultra Lucky at 649, VIP at 239, Triple Hatch at 349, Auto Rebirth at 129. None of those replace codes or a full tank. Buy a pass after you have redeemed strings and completed one real launch so you know which bottleneck you actually have.
Skip Robux-only shop cars until gas vehicles and pets are doing work. A painted pirate ship looks great in clips; it does not fix an unequipped pet slot.
First-hour checklist
- Join Car Race by push to start (place 11620633955), not a similarly named racer.
- Open Shop on the left, scroll to the code box, redeem every string on codes.
- Equip Monster Pet and Universal Varan if they arrived.
- Walk the lobby for cans and dig every treasure cross.
- Buy the next cheap gas car; ignore Robux cars.
- Launch once, read the distance, then collect again.
- Only then decide whether Auto Collect or extra pet slots would save time.
If you follow that list, day one is a working loop instead of a screenshot of the ramp. When the checklist is muscle memory, graduate to the deeper play, gas, pet, and car guides linked above.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for gas, pets, cars, and codes.
What should I do first in Collect Cars and Race?
Redeem every code in Shop, equip any pets you just received, collect lobby gas, buy a cheap car if you can, then launch once. See codes for the live list.
Do I need Robux on day one?
No. Codes, cans, and treasure crosses are free. If you spend later, Auto Collect is the pass that stops missed cans. Full prices are on gamepasses.
Why was my first launch so short?
You likely skipped gas cans, launched without a pet, or never redeemed FreePet and Release. Collect a full tank using the gas guide and equip pets from How to Get Pets.
Should I rebirth in the first hour?
No. Rebirth is for later, when you want extra maps such as Candy / Candyland. Day one is codes, gas, one pet, one car, and a clean launch. Timing is on Rebirth.
Where is the code box?
Shop button on the left of the HUD, then the field at the bottom of that panel. Controls shows how that HUD looks on PC and mobile.
