How to Collect Gas

Gas is the resource that turns the Collect Cars and Race lobby into a launch. The official how-to line is collect gas to increase speed, then take flight down the ramp. If you skip cans, you do not get a stylish short run. You get a slow lip and a rainbow that dies. Every serious distance in this game starts on the floor of the lobby, not on the ramp itself.

This page is the collection guide. If you have not joined the right place or redeemed codes yet, read Getting Started first. If you want the strings themselves, use the codes hub. If walking the lobby is the part you want to automate, read auto collect after you understand what the pass is actually grabbing.

Cans on the floor

The lobby is a pickup arena. Gas cans are scattered across the play space. Walk or drive into them. On PC that is WASD plus the usual Roblox collision pickup. On mobile it is the on-screen stick plus a tap to move into the can. You do not craft gas. You do not click a meter. You physically collect it.

Treat the lobby as a route, not a vibe. Start at spawn, sweep a loop that covers the obvious clusters, then cut back through any corner you skipped. Other players on the 16-person server will grab some of the same cans. That is not griefing; it is a shared floor. Keep moving. A can you did not touch is speed you did not bring to the ramp.

Community guides hammer the same warning: do not skip even one canister if you do not want to stall on the track. That sentence is the whole skill. The players with huge pirate-ship clips still walk this floor. They just walk it faster, or they paid Auto Collect so the walk happens without a thumb.

Treasure crosses you dig

Besides cans, the lobby plants treasure crosses. In videos they show up as marked X spots on the ground. Stand on the mark and dig. Footage uses the standard Roblox interact (E on a keyboard when the prompt appears; tap the prompt on mobile). Digging returns a lump of gas much larger than a single can. 600 gas from one dig shows up in shop-tour clips; your number will vary, but the idea is the same: crosses are the jackpot nodes on the route.

Do not launch past a visible cross because the ramp is closer. Dig first. If two crosses are up, dig both. If you are not sure whether a mark is a cross, walk onto it and wait for the interact prompt. There is no official keybind bible, so trust the prompt, not a guessed key.

Crosses and cans refill over time as you play. After a launch you return to the lobby and run the route again. That is the farm. Achievements and group chests, when they are still offering studs or gas in your build, are extra — they do not replace the floor.

Why missed cans wreck the launch

Speed on the ramp is the gas you brought. Pets multiply the flight. Cars change the body. None of those rescue an empty tank. A short rainbow after a “full-looking” run usually means you grabbed the cans near spawn and ignored the rest of the map, or you launched while a cross was still sitting undug.

Debug in this order:

  1. Did you redeem gas codes this account? If not, you started under-tanked.
  2. Did you walk a full loop, not a spawn circle?
  3. Did you dig every visible cross?
  4. Did you spend the tank on a shop car and then launch without refilling?

If the answer to 4 is yes, you did not fail the launch. You spent the fuel. Buy the car, then collect again. The Getting Started checklist exists because this mistake is the default first hour.

Codes that grant gas

Open Shop on the left, scroll to the bottom, paste, redeem. Active gas-related strings: Update5, GasBoost, Update4, Update3, Update2, Update1, FreeGas. Community lists put GasBoost around 2,000 gas, Update5–Update2 around 1,500 each, Update1 around 800, and FreeGas around 500. Redeem anyway even if the toast shows a different amount; the in-game grant is the truth.

FreePet and Release are not gas; they are pets. Redeem them on the same visit so you are not collecting for an empty multiplier. All nine live strings belong in one Shop sitting. Details and copy-paste order stay on the codes hub.

Codes are the only “instant tank” the game hands you. After they are claimed, you are on cans, crosses, and whatever achievement drops still exist. There is no second secret code button. If a YouTube thumbnail promises a new string, check the codes page before you type random words into Shop.

Auto Collect and scripts

Auto Collect costs 399 Robux. It is the pass that picks up the lobby for you so a missed can is no longer a thumb problem. If you will buy one convenience pass, this is the one that protects launches. It does not dig your strategy; you still want to hit treasure crosses and you still want to redeem codes. It does stop the “I walked past three cans while opening Shop” leak.

Players who want more automation look at auto collect. Read the safety notes there. A pass you bought in the official Shop is the clean version of the same idea. Scripts are a separate, at-your-own-risk conversation.

Other passes help the economy around gas without collecting it: 2x Studs (289) grows the return from a long flight, which buys more cars, which makes the next tank feel better. They do not pick up cans. Do not buy Ultra Lucky hoping it fills the tank. Luck is for eggs.

A clean pre-launch route

Redeem codes if this is a new session on a new account. Equip pets. Sweep cans in a loop. Dig every cross. Glance at the tank. If you just bought a car, sweep again. Then enter the vehicle and commit. That is collecting gas in Collect Cars and Race. Everything else — Candy maps, pirate ships, luck passes — assumes you still do this route. Skip it and the infinite track is a very short story.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for gas, pets, cars, and codes.

Where do I collect gas in Collect Cars and Race?

In the lobby: walk into cans and dig treasure crosses marked on the floor. Then launch. A longer walkthrough of the first session is Getting Started.

Which codes give gas?

Update5, GasBoost, Update4, Update3, Update2, Update1, and FreeGas. Paste them in Shop on the left. The live list is on the codes hub.

Is Auto Collect worth it?

If you miss cans, yes. Auto Collect is 399 Robux and is the pass that protects tank size. Script-side helpers are covered on auto collect.

Why did I stall on the rainbow track?

You launched without a full tank. Missed cans and undug crosses cut speed. Collect a full loop, then launch again.

Do I collect gas during the launch itself?

The farm is the lobby. Fill up, then commit off the ramp. Pets and cars multiply the flight; they do not replace the cans you skipped.
